Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #176

Today I made a card layout based on the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I made it for Easter and from My Creative Time products.  I love the way it turned out. Thanks to Freshly Made Sketches for enticing me to use products I haven't used before.

MCT Designer Challenge and Milk Carton Die

I am in love with the new MCT Milk Carton Die, have made four in one day.  I decided to make one for the MCT challenge. 

I followed the photo and color inspiration for the challenge. These cute boxes are so easy to make and look great no matter what you decorate them with.

Here are the others I played around with.  Don't they look great with the simplicity of a pattern paper, tag, and ribbon?

This last one I whipped up in minutes for my bday niece, not the best picture as I was running last minute.  

I am so happy with this die and can see me making multiples of these to just give happy gifts to those I care about.

Latte Love

Today's inspiration came from Teri Beri's Creations. When I saw her post way back in September I knew who I wanted to recreate it for, one of my best, coffee drinking friends, Belinda.  It was meant to be a 40th birthday surprise, but I became extremely busy, so then Christmas, right? Nope, still really busy. I finally had a little time and my daughter had a hair appointment with Belinda, perfect timing, and it happened to her anniversary and she was upset about being out of coffee creamer, again, perfect timing.

Belinda loved it, has thanked me several times and even posted it on facebook. I love surprising my friends with little gifts.

ABC Challenge at MCT

For my take on the ABC Challenge at MCT I decided to follow Miss Lucia's slider card from this week.  Thanks Miss Lucia for such a fun card and post to a slider tutorial.

I am using the letter S.  Shamrock, Saint Patrick's Day, and slider card are my S words.

It's a 10 cent slider card, lol, because I used two nickels to fill the space of MCT oval die that I cut out twice on the card.  I used the cut out oval for my sentiment.  Glossy accents fills the sentiment and the shamrock from You're My Pot of Gold.

I also added some glitter glue to the shamrock.

MCT Thursday Challenge-Sketch

MCT Thursday Challenge-Sketch

Hello everyone! Emma from MCT has a new Thursday challenge of following a sketch.  I had to find pictures, which I spread everywhere.  Then I sketched out my own plan to follow Emma’s sketch.  I dug through all my MCT stamps and dies and pulled out the ones I wanted to use, or thought I would use.  I will admit there were more than I actually used.

This is my take on the sketch.  An Archer layout of my son and his first year of 4H Shooting Sports-Archery.  Super proud of how fast he picked up the sport.

I did my best to follow, but I couldn’t include a typewriter as it just did not go with camo (which truthfully I don’t love) or archers!

I used a leftover strip of some Realtree camo paper.  I used muted oranges, greens, and browns.  

I used the Tag Dies for the journaling block and stamped the graph stamp from Get Schooled.  

I used the arrow from Stitched Round Tab, Arrow & Tag dies to hold the word SON from Here’s Lookin’ At You.  I attached them with some staples that I have had forever!

To make my target I used the circles from Build a Banner Kit and Scallop & Stitched Circle dies.  I also drug out my old Creative Memories circle punches to finish the look.  I, again, used an arrow and cut it out and placed it with a pop dot.

The word archer is from the Lowercase Fun Dies.  Layered with orange and brown.

I used the arrow strip from It’s All About You to separate the two sides of the page.  Two sentiments are from Just Simply Live.  And finally I used the Fun Stitched Edges to edge the top of the tag, and the top and bottom of the photo page.

MCT Guest Designer-Once Upon A Time...

I was asked by Miss Emma of My Creative Time (MCT) to be a "Guest Designer".  I was so ecstatic as I totally love MCT stamps and dies.  She was so sweet to send me one of the newest stamps sets from her 29th release, "Once Upon A Time..."

I came up with a 4x4 card using the die from 4x4 Journal Die + More to make the card base, which once my daughter saw it she begged me to make a couple more.

This is my original.  I stamped the typewriter twice so that I could cut out the sheet of paper to pop and curl up.  I inked up the typewriter and sheet of typewriter paper to look old.  I also used the Glossy Accents on the black parts of the typewriter.  I also used the sentiment from Once Upon A Time... to adorn the typewriter and the insides of my second cards.

I had so much fun coming up with this card.  I want to thank Emma of MCT for allowing me to be a guest designer and letting me in on one of the newly released stamp sets, as I truly love her stamps and dies, they are all I buy!

MCT 2014 Design Team Call

Okay, I have never tried out for a design team, but I own so many MCT products and I think they are so awesome, I figured I might as well give it a try.

To make a submission I had to make 3 projects, a card, a 3D project, and a layout, preferably using MCT stamps and dies.  I sketched out several ideas in a notebook while I was busy running my loved ones to doctor's appointments in the past month.  I finally finished up my submissions.

This is my card.  I designed it after a tree ornament that my Uncle Jim made.  We had a tradition while my grandmother and he were alive of making ornaments for our Christmas get-togethers.  He loved working with wood and we always got a wooden tree of some sort. I have tried to carry out this tradition of ornament giving for my family.  Every year my ornaments are a little different.  

For this card I used several MCT dies, some brown and white twine, glitter glue, and various papers and adhesives.  I rounded out the edges of the branches for dimension.

The stars were layered, oh and they both have Glossy Accents on them. The Stitched Button star also has a lining of glitter glue for extra sparkle.

 

From this view you can see the grid from Get Schooled and the sentiment a little better.  I added glitter glue to the presents and popped up the red one.  The scalloped edge did not photograph well.

My second project is a 3D project using the Treat Slider Box die.  I wasn't sure as I was making this one.  I am usually hesitant about forging ahead when I don't think an idea will work out.  I had to push myself on with this one as the sketch was not exactly coming to life as I had pictured.  I figured the worse I could do was have to start over with a new idea.  I love the way it came out.  I used the Stitched Doily die, but it was too big, so I cut a slit and cone shaped it to hold my flowers like a bouquet.  It worked out, even though I didn't think it would.

I learned this rose technique off from a YouTube video.  They use pages from the phone book, so I thought that was an efficient way to use old books.  They came together fast.  I had these ready for weeks before I figured out how I wanted to use them.  I used a red ink I have had forever to ink the flowers.  I also used an old ink pad to ink the edges of everything else.  I wanted it to look older, like a vintage type of feel.  Glossy accents was used as dew drops, and twine on the little Stitched Button flowers.

The bow on the pencils was my daughter's idea.  I had so many of them made that were just sitting there.  I had twine around the pencils, but I liked her idea, so I used it.  I think it turned out super cute.  

My third project is a layout for my grandbaby's birth.  They just moved into their first apartment as a family.  Her momma loves purple, so I chose to use purples as the main color.  I used the Fun Stitched Edge dies for the frame of her footprint.  I was trying to make a frame which was  going well until the last cut.  I did some miscalculation, which I loved, so I needed to make the other end match, well that created double stitched lines.  I liked that, so I had to carefully make double stitched lines around the whole frame. I was mostly pleased with my result.  I have an imperfection issue that I am trying to let go of, lol.

This layout probably took the most time as it was not matching my sketch either.  I do love how it turned out.  I used the glitter glue on the small bow and Harmony's name.  harmony's name is also shadowed by a lighter purple shade.  

This is a close up of the multiple stitch lines and Fun Edge die.  I also used the small Scalloped Stitched bow to cover up mom's print.  

Here is an up close of the Fun Ticket dies, the small Rosette, and the sentiment stamp on the circle die.  

Overall I am pleased with my submission and proud that I finished something for this opportunity. I love My Creative Time (or MCT) stamps and dies.  They are so fun and they have been my go-to products when I need to make a quick card or gift giver.  They are just the perfect size for my quick cards.  Even last night I needed a manly card, which I had, but said "Happy Thanksgiving". I took off the sentiment and added a quick "Happy Birthday" from a MCT stamp and it fit perfectly. I am proud to have so many MCT stamps and dies, I feel I need so many, and that many more once they are showcased.  If you haven't checked out the MCT line please do so at your earliest convenience, you will not be disappointed.

MCT Treats Holders

I totally am in love with Emma's My Creative Time (MCT) products, I want them all!  They are fun and cute and totally giftable.  MCT's design team does an excellent job of showcasing all of the new products.  Check them out here.

I created these little treat holders with MCT products fashioned after Emma's treat holders that can be seen here.

I made one for each of my kids, my nephew, dad, sister, mother, grandmother and bf.  I only have pics of the two I made first for the kids.

I shortened the banner from Just Simply Live to fit their names.  I was kind of worried shorting the paper too much, but I have to get over my worries as I have so many supplies I can just start over, or make good use of any mistake that I make.  I always tell my friends that are creating with me that they can't mess up because it is art, their art, so be proud of it.

I also used some Halloween paper I have had lying around for a few years, I could have bought it from Michaels.  I love to buy paper as well.  I am just a buyer! Wish that were my job title, ;)

Here they are together.  That is about as close as you will see my kids these days, lol.  Growing and distancing themselves from each other, it's an age thing!  Can't wait till they realize the bonds of siblings when they are older, it is a wonderful feeling to get back.

This challenge for My Creative Time was created by Leanne of Created by Leanne.  I used the sketch to come up with a Father's Day card for my dad.  This is what the sketch looks like:

I used MCT's "It's All About Me" stamp set, "Stitched Journaling" die, "Stitched Restroom Peeps" die,"What's Growing On?" stamp and die set, "Here's Lookin' At You" stamp and die set.  The journaling die I stamped with a Stampin' Up Cranberry Crisp pad from forever ago along with the circle O and heart from a Stampin' Up Much Love set.  It is time for me to dive into my HUGE stash of crafty items and start making more use of them.

Designer Card Challenge on MCT

MCT Designer Challenge - Colors of Cassandra

Cassandra is hosting the MCT Designer Challenge of colors.  We are to use at least 3 colors of the rainbow, and for a challenge use them all!

There was a resident's birthday where I work and I wanted to make her a little something, after all turning 94 is pretty amazing in my book.  I made the MCT treat slider die and stuffed, and I mean stuffed, a $5 lottery scratch off ticket inside, it fits!!!

Had I thought better about it I would have stamped the inside of the box before I glued it together, but live and learn.  I used a pastel rainbow of colors for the slider part of the box.  Florally paper for the cupcake topper.  I used the treat slider label die for the Happy Birthday, which was from the 3x3 card stamp set.

Tried to get a good pic of the glittery little heart I cut out with the heart dies, but it is so hard to capture the beauty of glitter.
